Project Gold
Founded in 2016 by St. Paul's students, Project Gold is the oldest student-led, non-profit club that continues to run in school. Ever since, the group has held many successful events and fundraising activities, and its members have advocated for the promotion of equality movements for para-athletes.
Project Gold is an organization that aims to minimize inequality for para-athletes in order to promote inclusion and equal opportunity in sports. To that end, Project Gold works closely with its partner, Cria Brasil, to offer opportunities for athletes to continue pursuing the activities they love, despite the challenges they may face. Project gold is an amazing initiative for students who want to gain a broader perspective and be a part of something larger than themselves. The athletes that participate in the project truly embody perseverance, and it is an honour to work with them.
Previous Projects:
1
Project Gold hosts their annual 5km run, where parents and students participate together with Project Gold's para-athletes
2
In 2019, Project Gold collaborated with jewellery store '1055' to raffle a R$10,000 necklace, where all the money fundraised from the raffle was sent to CRIA Brasil
3
In 2020, one of the founders of CRIA Brasil ran in the New York virtual marathon. He won 1st place in his category with a fantastic time of 2 hours and 59 minutes.
4
Project Gold also has multiple collaborations with a diverse range of sponsors such as Track and Field (sports attire) and Kikos (sports equipment), where funds are raised for the athletes
5
Project Gold's most recent initiative is a collaboration with 1055 jewellery store in which Project Gold's bracelets are being sold. Each represents one of the key elements of Project Gold (love, compassion, hope, kindness, helpfulness, and perseverance), and the profits go the CRIA Brasil
Upcoming projects
Project Gold’s next goal is to provide CRIA Brasil with a tandem bicycle, which is very helpful to athletes who may have disabilities that make riding an ordinary bicycle an impossibility.
At the end of this year (2021), Project Gold also intends on having their very own Maratona de Itú, which raises awareness of Para-athletes' abilities and raises money so that more people can join CRIA Brasil.
